Daddy-Daughter Date at the Ballard Locks

They also went to the U Village and picked up my Mother's Day gifts from the pottery painting place and did some school shopping (eek! so cute!). Tyler was so excited to give me the plate she painted. She ran in the house and said, "Mama! Guess which hand?" They also went to Mighty O donuts (a must for a good date) and the bike store (a must if you are Nick). I love that they love to spend time together.
Fox and I went on a date here in Madison Park. We walked down to the park to swing on the swing and bought 9 adorable saucers with basil leaves all around the edges at a yard sale.

Leslie and Andre's Wedding at Wayfarer Farm on Widby Island

The children where trying the whole night to find something to knock it down with.

Tyler kindly shared her candy.

Dancing with my Mr. Boy.
Leslie and Andre's wedding was so beautiful as you can clearly see from the pictures. But not only was it beautiful it was also awesome. They had bocce ball and horse shoes and a typewriter as a guestbook and an adorable band and an owl pinata and individual berry tarts and s'mores.  If you live in Seattle and you are getting married you should probably get married at Wayfarer Farm. I want to be just like the lady who owns it when I grow up.

Sleep Training

Today, for the first time, I got angry with Fox. I have been annoyed with him and frustrated a ton of times, but this was for real mad. I tell him constantly not to touch the garbage can, and he knows he is not suppose to. But today, he was over there and I thought he was getting the broom (favorite toy) when he was actually eating tic tacs out of the trash can! So I grabbed him, took him to the bathroom, and furiously washed his hands. When we got back into the kitchen Tyler said, "Is Fox having a time out?" And that is when I realized my baby is a toddler.
So in honor of this discovery I thought I would post a journal entry from a few months ago.

May 3, 2011
I was rocking fox to sleep tonight. Remembering to cherish these moments. Someday I will rock his baby and look back at tonight like it was yesterday. The way he lays his head on my right shoulder when he is ready to fall asleep. Kissing his sweet little cheek. Hearing his little sighs as he calms down. The weight of him on my chest. His feet only reach my waist when he cuddles up with his head on my shoulders. Nigh-nigh music and blue blankie. Blonde hair baby boy. Soft hair against my cheek while his head rests on my shoulder.

1,000,000 Pictures to Show How Much I Love our Courtyard

This is Tyler after her very first bike ride outside of our apartment complex. We went to the beaver dam. Tyler did great. I don't even remember any complaining, but that was about a month ago, so I could have forgotten.
I am trying to think of the words to describe Kevin and Fox's relationship, but I can't! It is too adorable. Fox really loves the whole Finney-Richardson family, but for surely-sure he loves Kevin the most. Fox is a pretty great hugger in general, but he saves his best hugs for Kevin.

On the way to the pool. She is ready.

This is actually in our living room, but this is turning into a post about how much we love our neighbors.

Our cousins also love our courtyard. And we love our cousins visiting our courtyard.
These are our neighbors Michael and Gloria (with Ty and Kenzie and Andrew). They also have a momma and wife named Megan and a little brother named Jesse who was just born yesterday! But anyway, Michael actually might have super powers. This guy can run around after children and pretend to be a monster for an unbelievable amount of time. At first I felt sort of guilty that I couldn't do that, but then I realized that God gifted us all in different ways and that there was no reason to compare...and then I sat down.

This is Conner and Seamus. They are seven and nine-year-old boys and therefore the coolest people on the planet. This is the kind of thing Tyler would say to impress them, "Hey Conner, we're playing Dark Vader. I know about Dark Vader, Momma, riiiight?" Or "Hey Conner, Fox actually ate bird poop (true)!" Unfortunately Conner and Seamus moved to the Eastside. And we miss them especially Tyler.

Every Friday Nana comes to watch Finn and we get to enjoy a morning of visiting and playing with them. I am so grateful for all the people who think my children are great and who look forward to spending time with them.

Side Note: sometimes what I write won't coincide with the picture.

So, I am blogging. In the first few posts, I am going to recap everybody's favorite "Summer 2011!" Ready, Set, Go!

One of the first things Tyler did was sleep through an incredibly loud house show. I don't even think she needed those noise canceling headphones, but thank you, Super-Nice-Drummer-Brad. Fox did not sleep. He is a huge Young Lions fan. The Young Lions are also huge fans of Fox.
